A Trustee Who Listens, Leads & Gets Things Done
Khadiza "Khatija" Manjra is running to bring real community experience, mental health awareness, and practical accountability to the Durham District School Board.
Get in TouchA Clear Agenda for Pickering Families
My priorities that put students first and give parents a real voice at the board table.
Student Achievement & Strong Foundations
Keeping education at the centre, with a focus on strong foundations in math, literacy, science and essential skills, while preparing students for life beyond the classroom.
Safe Schools & Student Well-Being
Addressing concerns around violence, bullying and school safety, while ensuring students have access to appropriate mental-health and well-being supports.
Parent Voice & Better Communication
Strengthening communication between families, schools and the board, so parents understand what is happening and have meaningful opportunities to be heard.
Inclusion, Belonging & Respect for Every Student
Supporting schools where students of different backgrounds, identities, abilities and circumstances are treated with dignity, feel safe and have equitable opportunities to succeed.
Accountability & Practical Local Issues
Asking questions and advocating for transparency around decisions that directly affect Pickering families, including school boundaries, transportation, resources and how board decisions affect students in the classroom.
School Boundaries, Transportation & Planning
As Pickering grows, we need to plan ahead — not catch up. That means reviewing school boundaries to reflect where families actually live, improving enrollment projections so we stop relying on portables as permanent solutions, reducing travel times, and ensuring students can attend a school in their own neighbourhood whenever possible. Good planning today prevents disruption for families tomorrow.
Khadiza "Khatija" Manjra
Born and raised in Canada, certified in mental health and life coaching, and a longtime community advocate — Khadiza brings lived experience and professional expertise to the trustee role.
Khadiza "Khatija" Manjra is a dedicated community advocate, certified mental health and life coach, and longtime Pickering resident who believes every child deserves a safe, supportive, and high-quality education.
Born and raised in Canada, Khadiza has spent her career working at the intersection of community service, mental health support, and youth advocacy. Her professional background spans nearly two decades of public service and community engagement, giving her a deep understanding of the systems that shape families' lives.
As a certified mental health and life coach, Khadiza has worked directly with youth and families navigating challenges in school and at home. She understands firsthand how mental health, belonging, and a sense of safety affect a child's ability to learn and thrive.
Khadiza is a parent who has navigated the Durham District School Board as a family member — attending meetings, asking questions, and advocating for better communication between schools and the families they serve.
She believes that trustees must be accessible, accountable, and genuinely connected to the communities they represent. Too often, decisions are made without meaningful input from parents, students, or frontline staff.
Khadiza is committed to changing that. She will show up, listen, ask hard questions, and push for practical solutions — not just at election time, but every single month of her term.
Her platform is grounded in the real concerns she hears from Pickering families: school safety, student well-being, parent communication, inclusive classrooms, and the practical planning issues — boundaries, transportation, and overcrowding — that affect daily life.
Khadiza is not a career politician. She is a neighbour, a coach, and a community builder who is ready to bring fresh eyes, professional expertise, and genuine care to the board table.
"Leadership begins with listening — and then being willing to do the work"
— Khadiza "Khatija" Manjra
If you believe Pickering deserves a trustee who will truly show up for students and families, Khadiza is ready to do that work.
